Amarendra Kantha has been certified as 75% disabled by the government. Which means he has been entitled to a monthly 'pension' of Rs 300 since he was five years old. But Amarendra is now 13, in class VIII now and - yet to receive the money. But the boy's father is blind too and the family has to live off the earnings of his mother who cooks in richer households and her husband's disability pension of Rs 300 per month.
The Right of Persons with Disabilities Bill 2014 Bill covers 19 disabilities and promises certain benefits like reservations in education and employment and the pension to all persons with at least 40% of a disability.
"I only want the government to help him so that he can make his future and survive on his own," says Nityandanda Kantha, the boy's father.
Please call Ranjit Kumar Chaudhary, Social Education Organizer of Jagatsinghpur on 7504059334 and ask him to sanction disability pension for Amarendra as soon as possible.
